Top 4 Trends for Winter
Essential Pieces for Winter Trends
When the weather dips below 30, it is hard to convince yourself to wear anything but leggings and a sweatshirt. Well, at least for that is the case for me. And while leggings will always be a trend, there are a couple of other essential pieces you can add to your winter wardrobe that will keep you warm but also bump up the style factor.
Animal Print
Leopard has long been determined to be a neutral and can really be styled many ways, there are other animal prints that have also entered the scene: snakeskin. These boots took Instagram by storm starting last November and I think really kicked off this trend.
The key to maximizing this animal print trend without looking like you are going on safari or visiting Animal Kingdom is less is more. If you are going to wear a dress or main piece of clothing with the print, then everything else needs to be a true neutral. However, if your main articles are neutral, feel free to go crazy with animal print accessories. In these pictures, animal print is either the main dish or the accessory. But never both.
Shackets and Jackets
I held out for as long as I could on the shacket trend, but when it looked like it was actually here to stay, I invested in two that I feel good about. One is pink (duh) and I only bought this one because I knew I could style it multiple ways. The other one I bought was a white, sherpa one that I first saw on another blogger and added to cart during Black Friday sales. My favorite way to wear this one is with jeans and also belted over a maxi dress or skirt, which would be perfect for fall.
If you do not have a leather jacket, stop what you are doing and buy this one. Or any one. Just buy one. You can style it so many different ways including with jeans and boots, over dresses, and even with shorts and tall boots for a cool, festival look. My only word of advice is make sure you know the type of leather you are getting. You don't have to invest in an uber expensive one, but you get what you pay for.
Sweater Dresses
Ok, so this is not a new trend by any means, but it is a trend that you should be a part of. In my opinion, sweater dresses are great when it's cold and you don't feel like really getting dressed up, but need something professional for work. You can belt them for a more defined waist look or even add a scarf to add a pop of color. I actually find myself reaching for them more than jeans on our casual Fridays because they are way more comfortable.
They are also versatile in terms of the shoes that you wear as well. Heels, tall boots, booties, and even white sneakers work with most of these looks and it can be changed depending on the event. Some of my favorite places to buy sweater dresses that aren't too thin and will last multiple years are HM, Target, Chicwish, and Nordstrom.
