Holiday Bucket List

Creating Holiday Traditions Without Kids

First comes marriage, then comes the merging of EVERYTHING. From homes to bank accounts to holiday traditions, marriage is about compromising, with the biggest compromise being how to spend the holidays. While I don't mind the travel from one house to the next, I feel like sometimes we miss out on creating our own traditions as a married couple without kids. Last year I started what I call our "Holiday Bucket List" as a way to help make sure we are getting the most out of this time and also finding new traditions to start as a family of 2 (well, 3 with Chewie).

Holiday bucket list, holiday activities for a family, holiday activities for a married couple, holiday activities without kids
How to use the big green egg to cook a turkey, recipes for the big green egg
Baking cookies, holiday traditions, how to bake cookies, Christmas cookie recipes
Recipes for a holiday dinner, Christmas Eve recipes, what to cook for Christmas eve
Holiday cocktail recipe, hard apple cider recipe, what to serve for Christmas or Christmas eve

Have you ever cooked an entire turkey by yourself?! When's the last time you baked cookies, used cookie cutters, and frosted your own sugar cookies? Would your spouse dress up in matching PJs with you for Christmas Eve? Honestly, my answer for all of these questions was a no...until last year. Nick and I made a list of some of the things we wanted to do during the holiday season as just us, as a chance to create our own traditions. We added a couple more to the list this year and I can't wait to get started. Happy December!
