Spring Shoes

Save vs. Splurge Spring Shoe Edition

Break out that toe nail polish and book those pedicure appointments...it is sandal season! I love my tall boots and booties just as much as the next girl, but there is just something about slipping into those sandals those first few warm days that gets me excited for spring.

There are a few returning shoe trends from last season and a couple of new ones. But regardless of the trend, you don't have to break the bank buying them all. My rule of thumb is to spend money on the styles that will last more than a few seasons, and save on the styles that are more trendy. For this post, I rounded up my favorite spring and summer shoe trends in two categories: save and splurge. You can make your own judgement call on which ones to buy, but I will also give my recommendations based on trends. Happy shopping!

Each year Chloe, Steve Madden, and Dolce Vita have cornered the market on wedges, sandals, and braided heels, but other stores are close on their heels (pun intended 😁). Recently, Target has been doing a great job of picking up on trends early and getting their styles out at the beginning of the season. Another place that I love to check out is DSW, and Lulus has probably the best dupe of all time.

Save vs. Splurge

Loeffler Randall vs. Lulus

These are so similar that my suggestion would be to go with the dupes for this pair. They are a very specific style that I don't think the cost per wear would equal out in the end.

Chloe Sandals vs. DSW sandals

I ordered the DSW version last year but ended up sending them back because they were too big (order your normal size). Some people love the Chloe ones, but I just can't see myself paying that much for them so it's DSW for me.

Steve Madden vs. Target

This is an easy one for me: Steve Madden all of the way. They are under $100 and you can sometimes find an even less expensive version at TJMaxx and Marshalls.

Save vs. Splurge

Vince Camuto vs. Target

I am very conflicted on this one...I have the Vinnce Camuto ones and would recommend them for sure. They are under $100 and very comfortable. However, if you are going to get colors other than the neutrals ones, I would go with the Target version.

Chloe Wedges vs. Target Wedges

This one is a no brainer: Target all of the way. It would take a lot for me to want to spend close to $400 for a pair of wedges and these just aren't it.

Tory Burch Sandals vs Shop the Mint

This save vs. splurge may be the one exception for me out of all of the options. If you don't want to invest in the flip flops, then I would definitely say go with the save version. However, I just ordered these slides on sale and to me, they are worth it. In fact, I would actually ditch the flip flops and go with these all together. They are true to size and provide a lot of support.

Save vs. Splurge

Golden Goose vs. Goodnight Macaroon

I know those who have the real GG sneakers love them. To me, it is just not worth it. Go with the dupes for sure on this one. I would say for this style, go up 1/2 a size for a better fit.

Hermés Sandals vs. Steve Madden

To be honest, if I had the cash, I would go with the Hermés because why not?? It's Hermés! However, these Steve Madden dupes are just as good. I also have so many favorite pairs of sandals that it seems a little silly for me to invest so much in this one pair.

Rothy flats vs. Vivaia flats

I know all of the teachers out there are huge fans of Rothy's and for good reason. However, if you find yourself wanting multiple colors and patterns, then I would point you to these Vivaia flats. They are washable, sustainable, and super comfortable as well. And about half the price! You can also use code Me18 on these for additional savings.
