May Empties
May 2021
Another month in the books. This month I had a variety of things that I ran out of and needed replacing so you are getting a little bit of makeup, hair, beauty, and wellness.
Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon: This is my all-time favorite long-lasting lipstick. And now that we don't have to wear a mask to work anymore, I can finally stock up on some of the summer shades I have had my eyes on. This is moisturizing and stays on all day. It does come off on glasses when drinking, but with some magic, it lasts on me for a while.
Drunk Elephant Polypeptide Moisturizer: I switched to Drunk Elephant products a little over a year ago and saw a major difference in my skin. I had never really invested in skincare before, and it is crazy how big of a difference it makes! I wear this every night and will sometimes layer it with the Drunk Elephant Retinal Cream because I am not getting any younger!
Prada Candy Perfume: I definitely don't have a collection of fragrances, but I like wearing something every day. I tend to buy the rollerball size because my fragrance preference changes with the season and these can get very expensive. My current favorite scent is Candy from Prada. I tend to gravitate toward fruity and floral in the spring and summertime.
Vitafusion Women's Vitamins: First, I am not a pro at vitamin knowledge and I am not a doctor. I just know that as I got older I felt like I needed to add a multi-vitamin into my routine. I like these so that's what I keep buying!
Aussie Mega Hairspray in Flexible Hold: The flexible hold for this one is key. I want something that will keep my curls curly or my flyaways down for the day but not look like I walked straight out of an 80s music video. Also, I tend to prefer aerosol cans for the continuous spray. It just makes it easier!
April Empties
April 2021
It's that time again! I didn't have too many products that I ran out of this month, but I have a feeling next month is going to be a big one. I have so many makeup and skincare jars that are close to the end. For this month, here are my empties and recommendations on whether or not I would repurchase them.
Amika Texture Spray: I use this on day 2 or 3 hair when I need a little body or I want to give my ponytail a little extra height. It works a little bit like hairspray, but without the hard, crusty stuff that hairspray leaves behind. I first bought this in 2020 and since then, it has become a staple in my routine. 10/10 will repurchase.
Moroccan Oil Clarifying Shampoo: I first started using this after my hairstylist recommended it. Apparently, after several days of using dray shampoo and texturizing spray, it creates a build-up on your hair. This shampoo strips off the build-off so you can start back from square 1. After the first 3 months of using it, my hairstylist said he could definitely tell a difference. I only use it once a week in place of my regular shampoo and it seems to do the job. However, I am not married to this brand and open to other suggestions. 7/10 will repurchase but may try a different brand.
Kat Von D Tatoo Eyeliner: I first got this in a Sephora Play box (these have since been discontinued) and didn't think I could love anything more than the Stila eyeliner. Boy, was I wrong. I am not quite sure about the difference, but this feels like it goes on smoother and it seems to really last all day long. I put it on over my eyeshadow and have zero issues. 10/10 will repurchase.
Elemis Cleansing Balm: I use to be a tried and true makeup cloth girl when it came to makeup remover. I have even tried the makeup eraser (which I still love for travel). I first purchased this based on a recommendation from Mary Orton and I was so impressed. A good test for me with makeup removers is the next morning: do I still have mascara under my eyes? That has not happened one single time with this balm. Also, it lasts forever. I just bought a new jar and my other one lasted 9 months! Already repurchased :)
